HAWAII PLAYWRIGHT Susan Soon He Stanton looks to be very well on her way to making it big. Her latest achievement is being appointed to a one-year residency at New York’s Lark Play Development Center as one of two inaugural fellows in the company’s Van Lier Fellowship Program. The fellowships support two artists, under 30, annually in moving from training to professional careers. Susan has received prizes for her plays by Kumu Kahua. “The Underneath,” which she wrote, was commissioned by Kumu Kahua, and originated at the Yale Cabaret and workshopped at the Kennedy Center and Unicorn Theater. She is Honolulu Theatre for Youth’s resident playwright for its 2010-11 season. HTY commissioned her to write “Navigator,” performed statewide for more than 20,000 children. She contributed to HTY’s multiwriter piece, “Where Do Things Go?,” on tour this year. Among her awards is a feature-film development grant and best screenplay prize from the Sloan Foundation for “Rosalind’s Helix.” Her plays have been performed in London, New York, California and Connecticut. She is a contributor for Audrey, an Asian-American women’s magazine. Susan is a 1999 Punahou grad, has a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and a masters from Yale School of Drama …

SOMETHING’S FISHY: A book signing for Ben Wong’s “Let’s Go Fishing Cookbook” will be held May 21 at Pacific Ocean Producers, the fishing tackle biz at Pier 38.
