A homeless woman from Houston is flying home to Texas thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor.

The donor responded to an appeal issued by Help the Hawaii Homeless Executive Director Tisha Woytenko and state Rep. John Mizuno, the chairman of the House human services committee.

They were seeking about $780 to cover the cost of Yughette Lashay Baker’s plane ticket and the cost of changing the return flight date of her mother, Cheryl Walters, who came to Hawaii to find her.

A news release from Help the Hawaii Homeless and Mizuno said Monday Baker has an intellectual disability and is under medication. Mizuno donated $100 to the cause, while the Help the Hawaii Homeless board contributed $50.

Mother and daughter were to fly home today.
