The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has classified the death of a homeless man found injured at Aala Park as a homicide.

The man, 47, was found injured at Aala Park late Wednesday morning with injuries to his face, police said. He was taken by paramedics in serious condition to a nearby hospital about 11:29 a.m. His condition worsened and he died Wednesday night, police said.

Police initially classified the case as an unattended death but were awaiting autopsy results. The medical examiner’s office said the man died of blunt force trauma to his head.
