Kolten Wong drove in one of the Rainbows’ seven fourth-inning runs with a sacrifice fly.

Hawaii second baseman Kolten Wong was honored as the hitter of the week by the Western Athletic Conference today.

Wong hit .538 (7-for-13) with nine runs scored, eight RBIs, three doubles, six walks and a stolen base in a four-game split against New Mexico State.

Wong has earned the award three times in his career, including twice this season.

The two wins in Las Cruces, N.M., gave Hawaii a share of its first WAC regular-season championship since 1992.

The Rainbows open conference tournament play on Thursday at 4 p.m. Hawaii time at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz.
