An all-day standoff with an armed man who barricaded himself in a Kapolei home ended last night when the man was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

The incident began just before 8 a.m. when the 31-year-old man armed with a handgun threatened to kill himself inside the home.

Patrol officers and members of the police Specialized Services Division and the Crisis Negotiation Team responded.

Police said negotiations continued until about 8:17 p.m., then the man shot himself.
