Big Island police investigate shooting deaths of horses
Big Island police are investigating the deaths of two horses that were allegedly shot in the Hakalau area of East Hawaii.
Both horses were found by the caretaker of a property off Chin Chuck Road across from Veterans Park, police said Tuesday.
The caretaker found a decomposing horse carcass entwined in barbed wire and with an apparent gunshot wound June 8. The following day the man found another horse within the 10-acre property with an apparent gunshot wound.
Police Lt. Miles Chong said there have been no reports of similar incidents.
