Abercrombie signs 15 bills into law
Gov. Neil Abercrombie has signed 15 measures into law.
The measures, all signed Monday, include House Bill 953 which amends the salary cap for Board of Education staff positions to help the state recruit qualified people for the posts.
Another, Senate Bill 1068, classifies killing or attempting to kill someone’s pet without their consent as animal cruelty in the first degree.
Relating to voting, the governor signed House Bill 1613 requiring that voter registration applications include a space for people to request a permanent absentee ballot.
Also relating to voting, he signed House Bill 716 which establishes new election deadlines to comply with federal laws governing the rights of military voters overseas.
