Freedom is fleeting for Waiawa prison escapees

A CrimeStoppers tip led police to recapture escapees from the minimum-security Waiawa prison Monday night.

Police arrested Elijah Keakahumoku, 26, and Jordon White, 22, at 9:15 p.m. at an apartment building at 370 Wilikina Drive in Wahiawa after the tip. Police also arrested a 41-year-old woman who lives at the building for hindering prosecution. Police said the woman did not cooperate with officers trying to arrest the men.

Police located two other escapees — David Carvalho, 40, and Thomas George, 24, — at the Pagoda Hotel at midnight.

Adult Correctional Officers discovered the men missing at 1:10 a.m. Sunday during a bed check.

The men all face felony escape charges, which could add 10 years to their sentences.
