Maui Land & Pineapple Co. has sold 12.8 acres of land at its Kahului cannery to Fergus & Co., a Honolulu-based real estate investment firm.

The 255,000-square-foot property previously was used as a warehousing and processing complex.

Fergus, which acquired in December two smaller parcels from Maui Land, plans to upgrade the utilities, loading docks and metal siding at the facility and lease roughly 155,000 square feet of warehouse space and parking.

“We are excited to revitalize this well-located property,” said Alex Fergus, company principal.

The company is seeking warehouse tenants to occupy 5,000 square feet and larger spaces at the former cannery complex. Fergus also owns Kahului’s Dairy Center, a 90,000-square-foot retail center and a seven-acre mixed-used business park across from Maui Marketplace.
