Some 1,800 marijuana plants destroyed in Kauai operation

A three-week marijuana eradication program on Kauai resulted in the recovery of 1,805 plants ranging from seedlings to plants up to 4 feet high.

Operation Green Harvest, which ended last week, was a joint effort by the Kauai Police Department, Honolulu Police Department, Maui Police Department, Drug Enforcement Agency, Department of Land and Natural Resources, the state Narcotics Enforcement Division and U.S. Coast Guard.

"We are in an ongoing battle against drugs and anytime we can obstruct the illegal cultivation of marijuana, it is considered a success," said Kauai Police Chief Darryl Perry in a news release.

One arrest was made during the operation for suspicion of a commercial operation of a detrimental drug.

Law enforcement also seized two foothold traps at a marijuana grow site.
