Real estate and media mogul Zell to speak at UH-Manoa
Real estate mogul and media investor Sam Zell is scheduled to speak at the University of Hawaii at Manoa next week.
Zell is due to participate in a panel discussion Thursday evening entitled “The Ethical Boundaries of Entrepreneurial Behavior” sponsored by the Shidler College of Business and William S. Richardson School of Law. It will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
Zell is the chairman of Equity Group Investments LLC and created three of the largest real estate investment trusts in history.
In 2007, he engineered an $8.2 billion buyout of the Tribune Co., which includes the Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times. Tribune filed for bankruptcy a year later after a steep downturn in newspaper revenue made it difficult for the company to repay its buyout debt.
