Moderate earthquake hits Guam area
HAGATNA, Guam >> A moderate underwater earthquake has struck in the western Pacific region near the U.S. territories of Guam and the Northern Marianas Islands.
The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 4.6 temblor struck at 4:43 p.m. Tuesday. It was centered 63 miles northeast of Hagatna and 84 miles south of Saipan.
There were no immediate reports of injury or damage, and the quake was not large enough to generate a tsunami.
The territories are about 3,700 miles from Hawaii.
