A major traffic artery in and out of Waikiki could still be blocked to motorists when they make their commute this morning as a result of a water main break. McCully Street between South King and Waiola streets was shut down in both directions by Honolulu police due to the 16-inch water main break about 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

Asphalt was ripped and there was minor flooding along McCully Street. Four customers were without water and water wagons were set up in front of 916 McCully Street, officials with the Board of Water Supply said.

Repairs were expected to last through the evening, officials said.

Motorists were urged to take alternate routes or avoid the area altogether.
