A deputy city prosecutor says a man accused of trying to stealing copper rain gutters from Waianae Elementary School Friday had collected more than 31 pounds of copper by the time police arrested him.

An Oahu grand jury returned an indictment Wednesday charging Mosses Keamo, 29, with theft of copper, a class C felony.

Deputy City Prosecutor Kelli Lee said a witness saw Mosses cutting off rain gutters from school buildings and called police. She said Mosses confessed to the theft when police arrested him nearby following a brief foot chase.
