Coalition: No charge to use toilets at Maui bay

WAILUKU>> A Maui nonprofit organization is alerting visitors to Honolua Bay that portable toilets can be used free of charge, despite unauthorized requests for donations.

The Maui News reported Monday the Save Honolua Coalition says it pays for the toilet services with help from grants and doesn’t receive compensation from vendors soliciting money to use the portable facilities.

Coalition President Tamara Paltin says there have been ongoing problems with vendors asking for money at the bay.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources is studying whether vendors can solicit money on state conservation district land without a permit.
