120-plus evacuated after Oregon hotel explosion
NEWBERG, Ore. >> More than 120 people evacuated an Oregon hotel following an early morning explosion, and authorities are investigating whether it was the result of a drug-making operation.
The Oregonian newspaper reports that the blast occurred about 3 a.m. Thursday at the Best Western hotel in Newberg, Ore., southwest of Portland, Ore.
Newberg-Dundee Police Capt. Jeff Kosmicki says three people who had been in the room where the explosion occurred were injured. A 29-year-old man was flown to a hospital with burns, and a toddler and a 26-year-old woman were also hospitalized. The extent of their injuries was not known.
Kosmicki says 123 people at the hotel were evacuated and placed on buses and have not been allowed back into the hotel.
