Robert Bunda participated in a forum for candidates for Lt. Govenor on Sept. 6, 2010.

Former state Sen. Robert “Bobby” Bunda may fill the 10th seat of the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation’s board of directors.

Bunda, who served as Senate president from 2001 to 2006, was selected by a group of five members of the rail agency’s board. The full nine-member board will vote on the recommendation after receiving public comments.

“Mr. Bunda’s long career in public service, his understanding of the budgetary and legislative process, and his work in shaping public land-use policy for the state will be invaluable assets to the HART board,” HART Vice Chairman Ivan Lui-Kwan said today.

Lui-Kwan said the group considered 16 applicants. Public comments regarding Bunda’s nomination can be made during the HART meeting, scheduled for 8 a.m. on Sept. 16 at the Mission Memorial Annex conference room.

Comments can also be emailed to tdossantos@honolulu.gov, faxed to 768-5110, or mailed to: HART Board of Directors, 1099 Alakea St., 17th Floor, Honolulu, HI 96813, Attention HART board administrator.
