The city is warning drivers of a lane closure on Waialae Avenue between Old Waialae Road and 11th Avenue through Thursday.

The closure is part of a traffic study to determine whether one lane on Waialae can be replaced with a bicycle lane. Engineers closed one lane Tuesday.

Wayne Yoshioka, director of the city Department of Transportation Services, said the lane closure created some initial confusion, which is expected to subside as the three-day closure continues.

The regular Koko Head-bound contraflow of traffic during the afternoon rush hour will not occur during the closure.
