Falling palm kills tree-trimmer in Kailua
A 71-year-old Kailua man died Thursday after the coconut tree he was trimming fell on him in Kailua.
Fifita Misi died of internal bleeding in the chest after he was crushed by the tree, the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office said.
Police said Misi, who owned a tree trimming business, had been hired to trim some coconut trees at a home.
While he was at the top of a full-grown tree, the roots became dislodged and the tree fell about 10:40 a.m. Misi died at the hospital.
