Waipahu man charged with 2008 sex assault of girl
A 23-year-old Waipahu man appeared in Honolulu District Court on Monday on charges of sexual assault for a 2008 assault of a minor at a friend’s house in Aiea and a Sunday sexual assault of the same victim.
Prosecutors charged Kevin Mikio Kuneida of Village Park in Waipahu with first-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree sexual assault.
Kuneida was at the Aiea home of a friend Sunday, when he allegedly entered the bedroom of his friend’s 19-year-old sister and allegedly groped her Sunday.
Police arrested Kuneida on suspicion of two counts of third-degree sexual assault for the Sunday incident, and for an alleged 2008 sexual assault.
A spokesman for the prosecutor’s office said the victim, now 19, alleges Kuneida also sexually assaulted her three years ago sometime between July and August of 2008, when she was 16.
The victim told police Kuneida had been making out with her, which allegedly advanced to unwanted sexual intercourse, which Kuneida denies, said Dave Koga, spokesman for the city Prosecutor’s Office.
