A preliminary hearing for a 24-year-old Salt Lake man charged with attempted murder during a machete attack in Kalihi last week will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Honolulu District Court.
McNeil Valencia was being held in lieu of $75,000 bail after being arrested Wednesday on a charge of attempted murder.
Police said Valencia drove to a home on Eluwene Street just before 11 p.m. Wednesday, confronted a 23-year-old man and accused him of stealing from him.
Valencia pulled out a machete and sliced the victim on his ear, face and collarbone, a neighbor told police.
