Kauai man allegedly punches visitor in road rage case

Kauai police arrested a 44-year-old Anahola man who allegedly punched a man several times in an apparent road rage incident Sunday.

Police said a visitor driving a Jeep Wrangler had passed the suspect’s vehicle, a Nissan Frontier pickup truck, while traveling westbound on Kaumualii Highway near Omao Bridge.

The suspect followed the victim and blocked the Jeep in front of Lawai Mortuary. Police said the suspect approached the jeep and punched the driver, who was inside the Jeep. The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention.

Officers responded to the scene at 9:36 a.m. and shortly thereafter found the suspect and arrested him on suspicion of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. He was released after posting $1,000 bail.
