Buses rerouted from King Street due to low-hanging wires
Police rerouted city buses Tuesday night from North King Street to Vineyard Boulevard, between Liliha and Pua Lane, because of low-hanging wires.
A vehicle sheared off a utility pole in the 600 block of North King Street near Akepo Lane about 6:15 p.m., leaving wires hanging dangerously close to the tops of city buses, police said.
Chinatown-bound buses were rerouted up Pua Lane to Vineyard and Ewa-bound buses were also rerouted to Vineyard.
Police said buses were allowed to return before 11 p.m.
Hawaiian Telcom was called to repair the pole. No critical injuries were reported.
