AT&T installs wireless broadband at convention center

AT&T said it has completed the installation of a wireless broadband system at the Hawaii Convention Center in time for next week’s’ Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

The system consists of several strategically-placed antennas that distribute AT&T’s wireless network coverage throughout the facility, the company said in a news release. Known as a distributed antennae system, or DAS, the technology provides enhanced wireless coverage to customers in indoor or outdoor spaces where geographical limitations or crowd density might otherwise prevent an “optimal wireless experience,” AT&T said.

The permanent installation of the DAS is part of AT&T’s continuing investment in its Hawaii business, the company said.
