PBS Hawaii is off the air following an electrical fire in one of the Hawaii Public Television studios on the University of Hawaii-Manoa campus. Power to the station was shut off at about 12:30 p.m.

The Hawaii Public Television building near the University of Hawaii Manoa campus was evacuated after the alarm was called in at 11:15 a.m.

Robert Wong, Murray, the public television spokeswoman, said the station will be off the air indefinitely. She also said she did not know when the station will be able to return to video production.

The fire was quickly brought under control.

Police closed Dole Street between Hoonanea Street and University Avenue at 11:19 a.m.

Fire officials said no one was injured.

Also evacuated was the preschool at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Children’s Center next to the television studio at 2350 Dole St.
