Firefighters rescued a Kuliouou woman Friday after she couldn’t move while trying to climb a steep hillside in East Oahu.

The woman began to climb the ridge from the end of Moomuku Place, where she lives, hoping to get to a trail that she thought would take her to the crest of the Koolau Mountain Range, said Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig. She got stuck, couldn’t climb up or down, and called for help at 3:07 p.m.

A firefighter hiked up to her and guided her out of the tough spot, then took her to a flat area on the mountain side where firefighters used a helicopter to pick her up and take her to safety.
