Kauai fire leaves family of five homeless
Kauai fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire last night that destroyed a Waimea two-bedroom home and displaced a family of five.
No injuries were reported. Damages were estimated at $20,000 to the structures and its contents.
Waimea firefighters were called to the single-story unit on Panako Road at 5:30 p.m.
The blaze, with help from firefighters from Hanapepe, was under control within 10 minutes and fully extinguished by 6:30p.m.
The fire started in the back of the home.
