Fire crews aid overdue surfer

A surfer reported missing Sunday evening was brought safely to shore after a two-hour search.

The man was reported missing in waters off Kualoa around 5:30 p.m.

Fire rescue crews searched the area until about 7:30 p.m., when they spotted him attempting to paddle back to shore his surfboard. The rescue personnel assisted the surfer to shore, according to Honolulu Fire Department spokesperson Capt. Terry Seelig.

He was reported in good condition and declined medical treatment.
