Michael M. Contrades, a 17-year veteran of the Kauai Police Department, was appointed deputy chief today, Police Chief Darryl Perry announced.

Contrades joined the department in July 1994. He has served as a supervisor in the Patrol Services Bureau in the Waimea and Lihue Districts. He is a former property crimes detective and oversaw the department’s asset forfeiture program while assigned to the vice unit.
