The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory today that will be in effect from 6 p.m. today to 6 a.m. Sunday.

A high-pressure system passing north of Hawaii will bring strong, gusty winds to the islands, peaking Saturday.

The weather service forecasts northeasterly winds of 20 mph to 35 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph.

Winds will be strongest over mountains and downslope of mountains.

The winds can make for difficult driving conditions for motorists with high-profile vehicles.
