Waianae man dies at hospital after Sand Island crash

A man critically injured in a traffic accident in Kalihi Kai Friday died at the Queen’s Medical Center on Monday, police said.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Calvin Baker, 42, of Waianae.

Police said Baker,  driving a 2003 Dodge pickup, he hit a green dump truck waiting at the intersection on Auiki Street to make a left turn to Sand Island Access Road at 5:32 p.m. Baker went to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition with internal injuries. He died Monday morning, police said.

A 33-year-old Pearl City man who was driving the dump truck was not injured in the crash

Police said Baker may have had a previous medical condition. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
