Kauai’s Salt Pond Beach reopens one day after shark sighting
Kauai County officials reopened Salt Pond Beach near Port Allen Airport this morning after it was closed Thursday following a shark sighting in the area.
A 7-foot gray reef shark was reportedly seen in the water fronting the tower Thursday, prompting ocean safety officials to close the beach.
Lifeguards will continue to monitor the area, Kauai county officials said, although there have been no sharking sightings today.
