Maui County firefighters extinguished a 200-acre brush fire today that burned for three days on Molokai.

The fire was extinguished at 8:30 p.m., said Lee Mainaga, Maui Fire Department spokesman.

It was first reported at 1 p.m. Sunday and got within 50 feet of homes in Kalamaula Mauka and also caused about $5,000 in damage to appliances stored in a shipping container on Hoomalu Drive.

It was the fourth brush fire reported on Molokai since Friday.
