Trevor Wiseman shoots in the first half of UH's game against Louisiana Tech last month at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Hawaii men’s basketball sophomore forward Trevor Wiseman was reinstated to the team today by coach Gib Arnold.

Wiseman was indefinitely suspended by UH coach Gib Arnold on Monday after the forward refused to re-enter the Rainbow Warriors’ game at San Jose State last Saturday after being benched following a 2-minute stint of playing time.

He was not with the team for its 88-79 home loss to Western Athletic Conference leader Nevada on Thursday, but is expected to be available for Saturday’s 7 p.m. contest against Fresno State.

"I am a big believer that you must discipline yourself so others won’t have to," UH coach Gib Arnold said in a release. "As a coach there are times when disciplining a player is necessary even if it may cost you a game or two. In the long run your program will be stronger, your players will become men of greater character and the wins will be more abundant. Trevor made some mistakes. He came to me and the team and apologized. I hope he has learned from this and I believe his further actions now give him an opportunity to grow and become a better player and person. Trevor is a good kid and deserves a second chance. At this time he is reinstated on the team and we are glad to have him back."

Wiseman said: "I’m grateful that Coach Arnold is allowing me to rejoin the team. I take full responsibility for what happened and have learned a great deal from it. I’m sorry for letting down Coach Arnold, my teammates and the University of Hawaii. I believe in what we are doing and I look forward to moving on and putting that incident behind us."
