Hawaii beats Wagner in series opener

Stephen Ventimilia went 3-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs and Matt Sisto allowed two unearned runs in eight innings to help Hawaii defeat Wagner 9-2 in the opener of a five-game series on Thursday night at Les Murakami Stadium.

Collin Bennett had two hits to extend his hitting streak to nine games and Zack Swasey’s three-run double highlighted a seven-run fifth inning for the Rainbows (2-3).

Sisto struck out six and didn’t walk a batter, running his streak of consecutive innings without allowing an earned run to 22.

The series continues on Friday night at 6:35.
