Rainbows finish off series sweep against Wagner

Breland Almadova went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs to help Hawaii defeat Wagner 19-3 on Sunday.

The Rainbows (6-3) closed out a five-game sweep of the Seahawks (0-5) and have swept all three five-game series’ played under Hawaii coach Mike Trapasso.

Corey MacDonald (1-0) pitched five innings of three-hit ball, allowing one run with no walks and a strikeout to earn the win.

UH freshman Kaeo Aliviado reached base all six times, going 4-for-4 with two walks, two runs and two RBIs. Almadova’s inside-the-park home run also scored catcher Garrett Champion, who scored three times.

Hawaii returns to action Thursday hosting Witchia State for the first of a four-game set at 6:35 p.m.
