Some Kalihi and Makiki residents missed the end of the Academy Awards or woke up late because their alarms didn’t go off on time because of a power outage overnight.
Hawaiian Electric Co. spokeswoman Jan Miller said power lines went down at about 10:30 p.m. near Kui Place in Kalihi, cutting electricity to 1,100 customers in Kalihi and lower Makiki.
Power was restored to most customers by 11:20 p.m. But about 16 customers near Kui Place didn’t get their electricity restored until 2 a.m.
Miller said she did not know what caused the power lines to come down.
