Boater charged in alleged assault at Sand Island
A 48-year—old boat owner is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail after allegedly assaulting another man in another boat at Sand Island harbor Thursday night.
Russ J. Singer was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and second-degree assault in connection with the incident, which occurred about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.
Police said Singer got angry about a 23-year-old man anchoring his boat near the Keehi Lagoon marina.
Singer confronted the man and assaulted him using what police said appeared to be a box-cutter.
The victim was treated for his injuries at a hospital and released, police said.
The suspect was arrested at the marina Friday and was originally held pending charges of second-degree attempted murder, second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal property damage.
