Central Michigan edges Hawaii in opener
Sam Russell went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs and Jordan Dean was 2-for-4 with two RBIs to lead Central Michigan to a 6-5 victory over Hawaii on Wednesday.
A Les Murakami Stadium crowd of 7,26 saw the Rainbows (9-5) get the tying run on base to lead off the ninth before Jon Weaver retired the side to earn his first save.
The game was delayed for 25 minutes due to a power outage.
Breland Almadova went 2-for-3 with an RBI double and Stephen Ventimilia singled and scored twice to lead the Rainbows.
Senior Matt Sisto (3-1) was charged with the loss, allowing four runs on 10 hits in five innings to snap a string of four consecutive starts with a win.
Freshman Jordan Foley (2-0) got the win for the Chippewas (5-7), allowing three runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings with four walks and six strikeouts.
