A small earthquake shook Hawaii island early this morning, but no serious damage was reported and no tsunami alert was issued.

The United States Geological Survey estimates that the 3.7 magnitude earthquake was centered 27 miles west of Kailua-Kona at a depth of about 6 miles and struck at 4:06 a.m.

It was felt in West Hawaii from Captain Cook to Waikoloa and as far east as Honokaa.
