Rainbows continue hot streak with win over the Gaels
Collin Bennett went 2-for-3 with a triple and a career-high tying four RBIs to lead Hawaii to a 7-5 win over Saint Mary’s on Saturday night at Les Murakami Stadium.
Breland Almadova went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI and Pi’ikea Kitamura was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored as Hawaii scored at least seven runs for only the fifth time this season.
The Rainbows (21-13) won for the seventh time in their last eight games while the Gaels (15-17) are now 1-9 in their last 10.
Jarrett Arakawa (4-3) earned the win, allowing four runs — one earned — on six hits in seven innings with two walks and five strikeouts.
Brent Harrison recorded the final two outs for the ‘Bows, getting Shawn O’Brien to fly out to center with the bases loaded in the ninth to earn his team-leading fifth save.
The series ends with a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 11:05 a.m.
