» Colleen Hanabusa, now a U.S. representative, was chairwoman of the state Senate Judiciary Committee when a bill passed to put a constitutional amendment concerning sex crimes on the 2004 ballot, an amendment that was struck down by the state Supreme Court the following year because of the legislative process. A Sunday Insight article on Page F1 reported that Hanabusa was Senate president at the time.
