Mayor Peter Carlisle’s Advisory Committee on Landfill Site Selection has ranked an Ameron Hawaii quarry site at Kapaa in Kailua as the top site for a new city landfill.

The committee ranked a total of 11 sites, including a site in upland Nanakuli as second and upland Kahuku as the third.

The recommendations, completed at a meeting today, go to Carlisle for further review, including an environmental impact statement.

The committee completed the site ranking process this morning.
