Board of Education to hold community meeting in Kapolei

The Board of Education will hold a community meeting Tuesday night in Kapolei to hear from parents, teachers and others on the education issues facing their communities.

The meeting starts at 6 p.m. at Kapolei High School’s cafeteria, with an “early bird talk story session” at 5:30 p.m.

This is the second community meeting the BOE has held on Oahu since its members were appointed a year ago. There have also been several community meetings held on the neighbor islands.

BOE member Charlene Cuaresma said the meetings are aimed at better understanding what different communities need to improve student achievement.

At the meeting Tuesday, attendees will break up into small groups to discuss their concerns with BOE members.

“We’re all ears. We want to get out there,” Cuaresma said.

For more information, call the BOE offices at 586-3334.
