Austrian police: Ex-Libyan oil minister drowned
VIENNA (AP) — Austrian police say an autopsy has found that former Libyan oil minister Shukri Ghanem drowned.
Police spokesman Roman Hahslinger also says Monday that the autopsy results on Ghanem’s corpse show there were no signs of violence. Ghanem’s body was found Sunday in the Danube river close to where he had a residence.
Hahslinger suggests the death may have been an accident and that Ghanem had complained to his daughter late Saturday that he was not feeling well. He says no suicide note has been found and there is no evidence Ghanem was under threat.
The police spokesman says the results of toxicological tests are expected later this week as part of the investigation into the drowning.
