CHULA VISTA, Calif. >> A 13-year-old Chula Vista girl hid under the bed as a burglar ransacked her room and her 911 call led to an arrest.

The teen tells U-T San Diego that she was home alone Wednesday, waiting for a ride to school, when she heard noise from her parents’ bedroom. She saw a man removing the window screen, then ran and hid under her own bed and texted her mother to call 911.

However, the teen says her mom didn’t immediately get the text.

Meanwhile, the man came into the room.

The girl says she thought he’d look under her bed and her heart was pounding but he only ransacked her dresser and left.

She called 911 and police arrested a man nearby.
