Allegiant Air flew a Boeing 757-200 to Honolulu Airport for a Federal Aviation Administration test flight Wednesday. The Las Vegas-based airline, which is entering the Hawaii market in June, plans round-trip flights from Honolulu to Las Vegas three days a week, and Fresno, Calif., one day a week.

An airline that connects small cities with leisure destinations will begin weekly flights between Monterey, Calif., and Honolulu.

Allegiant Air announced Wednesday the nonstop flights will begin Nov. 16. The flights will operate once a week between Monterey Regional Airport and Honolulu International Airport.

The Hawaii Tourism Authority says the new route will be the first direct flight connecting the two cities and will provide an estimated $12 million in visitor expenditures and $1.4 million in tax revenue annually.

Allegiant flights from Honolulu to Las Vegas and Fresno will begin in June. In November, the airline will offer nonstop flights between Honolulu and Bellingham, Wash., Eugene, Ore., Santa Maria, Calif., and Stockton, Calif. The carrier will also offer nonstop flights between Maui and Bellingham.
