Police looking for hit-and-run driver in fatal Kaneohe crash
Honolulu police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who killed a 30-year-old Kaneohe man on Kahekili Highway early this morning.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Matthew Fragas. An autopsy will be conducted Monday.
Investigators are trying to ascertain why Fragas was in the road near Ahuimanu Place. Alcohol may be a factor, police said.
A vehicle, likely traveling south, hit Fragas, who was not in a crosswalk, at 2:15 a.m. The vehicle fled the scene.
An Emergency Medical Services supervisor said Fragas was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Police said there have been 24 traffic fatalities on Oahu’s roads this year, the same number as at this time last year.
