Masutomi named CEO of seawater air conditioning firm

Honolulu Seawater Air Conditioning LLC today announced the appointment of Eric Masutomi as chief executive officer effective immediately.

Masutomi replaces Bill Mahlum, who will continue to provide management services to HSWAC and serve as vice chairman of the company’s board of directors.

“We are very fortunate to add to our management team a strong local leader. With over 30 years of broad private and public sector experience in Honolulu, Eric is a great fit for us and will strengthen our company at every level,” said Mahlum.

Masutomi brings more than 30 years of broad private and public sector experience to his new role. Prior to his appointment, Masutomi served as a consultant to HSWAC in the delivery of a seawater air conditioning district cooling system to downtown Honolulu.

Earlier in his career, Masutomi served as Vice-President of Planning for Outrigger Enterprises Group where he was responsible for assisting in the management and development of the company’s real estate assets, including Outrigger’s $1.75 billion Waikiki Beach Walk development.

He also served as the director of planning for the Hawaii Community Development Authority, the state agency responsible for the redevelopment of Kakaako, and in the Governor’s Office of State Planning, heading the state’s program for the revitalization of the Honolulu Waterfront.
