No tsunami from quake off Northern California coast
A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck off of Northern California Friday evening but did not generate a tsunami.
The quake, which was centered 64 miles west of Petrolia, Calif., and 246 miles northwest of San Francisco, struck at 6:51 p.m. Pacific time (3:51 p.m. in Hawaii), according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The West Coast/Alaska Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer, Alaska, said no tsunami was generated.
